Executing queries is 20% of the form. Building dashboards is 16% and AI/BI Genie spaces are another 12% — a domain that didn't exist in the blueprint most study material was written against. 45 questions in 90 minutes across nine domains, English only, against a pass mark Databricks doesn't publish.

Business users ask a Genie space for revenue by region and get numbers that don't match the finance dashboard. The underlying tables are correct, and the dashboard's SQL filters out cancelled orders. What fixes the Genie space?

Where this question sits in the exam
Developing, Sharing, and Maintaining AI/BI Genie spaces is 12% of the Data Analyst Associate exam. Our mocks use the same mix.

How it's scored
Databricks sets passing scores statistically and revises them as questions change. That's their stated reason for not printing one — so the 70% quoted for this exam didn't come from them.
A readiness read still needs a line, so we use 80% weighted accuracy. It's ours, not theirs, and it's drawn that way: dashed where a published pass mark would be solid.
We set it high on purpose. Being too strict costs you a week of practice. Being too lenient costs you USD 200.
Accuracy by domain, weighted as the exam weights them · assumed 80% — ours, not Databricks'
Developing, Sharing, and Maintaining AI/BI Genie spaces is 12% of the form and the furthest behind. That's where the next hour goes.
The credential lasts two years. Databricks publishes a 25-question renewal exam for the Data Engineer Associate and none for this credential. Recertifying means sitting whatever version of the full exam is live then.
On a platform shipping this fast the guide will have moved. Features that did not exist when you certified are on the form, and topics you revised for may be gone.
What the questions look like
Query items hand you four statements that differ in one clause and ask which returns the right answer. Joins that fan rows out are the recurring trap, because the revenue figure stays correct while the count quietly doesn't.
Analyzing Queries is 15% of the form on its own — query history, caching behaviour and where the time went. The exam asks you to pick the diagnostic tool before picking the fix.
Genie items are about the instructions, example queries and permissions behind a space, not about prompting it. The recurring question is where a business rule has to live for Genie to honour it.

What fixes the Genie space?
Genie answers from the tables plus the context in the space. The cancelled-order rule has to live in the space's instructions and a trusted example query, not only in the dashboard SQL Genie cannot see. Domain: Developing, Sharing, and Maintaining AI/BI Genie spaces.

What you get back
Your readiness is a range, because it's an inference from the questions you've answered rather than a result you've earned. For a certification the outcome is binary, so the question is whether the whole range sits above the line.
The difference here is whose line it is. AWS publishes 720 and we measure you against their number. Databricks publishes nothing, so we measure you against ours — 80% weighted accuracy, set high on purpose, drawn dashed and labelled everywhere it appears.
Importing Data and Data Modeling are 5% each — around two questions apiece. A bad score there costs you a fraction of what the same score costs in the 20% query domain.
When the range stops narrowing and stops rising, more drilling isn't buying you anything, and that's worth knowing before you book.
If the real pass mark is below ours, the worst case is that you sat more practice than you needed. We'd rather make that mistake than the other one.

Your range crosses our assumed line. On today's evidence it's a coin flip, and we'll say so.
Three states
Try the three states. We won't show you a percentage chance of passing — nobody can calculate one honestly without years of real outcomes to calibrate against.

What it actually tests
AI/BI Genie spaces are a domain in their own right, worth more than Managing Data and Securing Data combined. Material written against the previous blueprint doesn't cover it at all, because it didn't exist there.
| Domain | Weight | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Understanding of Databricks Data Intelligence Platform | 11% · about 5 questions | What the platform is and where an analyst sits in it: workspace, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and Databricks SQL. |
| Managing Data | 8% · about 4 questions | Catalogs, schemas, managed and external tables, views, certified datasets and lineage in Catalog Explorer. |
| Importing Data | 5% · about 2 questions | Joint smallest domain. Getting data in through the UI, cloud object storage, Delta Sharing, the Marketplace and Auto Loader. |
| Executing queries using Databricks SQL and Databricks SQL Warehouses | 20% · about 9 questions | The biggest domain. Writing and running SQL against warehouses — views, joins, aggregations, filtering and sorting. |
| Analyzing Queries | 15% · about 7 questions | Reading a query rather than writing one: query history, auditing, logs, caching and where the time actually went. |
| Creating Dashboards and Visualizations in Databricks | 16% · about 7 questions | Second-biggest. Building AI/BI dashboards, choosing visualisation types, filters, parameters and refresh behaviour. |
| Developing, Sharing, and Maintaining AI/BI Genie spaces | 12% · about 5 questions | A domain that did not exist in the retired blueprint. Setting up Genie spaces, curating the instructions and example queries behind them, and sharing them. |
| Data Modeling with Databricks SQL | 5% · about 2 questions | Joint smallest. Structuring tables for analytical querying rather than for ingestion. |
| Securing Data | 8% · about 4 questions | Storage and access practice for analysts: permissions, sharing safely, and what not to expose in a dashboard. |
Domain weights are published on the Databricks certification page. Last checked 18 September 2026 against the /en/ page — localized pages still carried the retired blueprint on that date.
Dashboards plus Genie is 28% of the form — more than executing queries. If you have a limited week, that is where it goes.
